Dave Filoni Deserves Some Blame For The State Of Star Wars
While I would certainly agree that Filoni's appointment to CCO overlaps with some of the more recent Star Wars projects, there are a few things to note here. Shows like The Acolyte were deep into production when Filoni took his position, and Kennedy had significant personal involvement in the show, including hiring Heylund and all the principal producers and writers on the show.
In fact, Heylund had initially approached Kennedy with a completely different show concept that Kennedy herself felt would have been well received by the fandom but ultimately rejected it and sent Heylund back to square one. Instructing her to go back and write a story that was more personal and true to her own self. This is typical of Kennedys leadership style, handing over creative fand narrative freedom to an "auture" director or showrunner who has a "unique" personal perspective.
It is said that Filonis only real role in the show was in an initial approval of the script. This was still very much Kennedy and Heylunds baby.
I would agree though that Filoni is overreact on fan service, this being some of the best and worst parts of the live shows he has had heavy influence on. But I will take a show that over-caters to fans over one that flips them the bird.
