An interesting mechanic that could be implemented in a lonesome place like the end is mirages. Though likely hard to replicate in a game like Minecraft, mirages could randomly appear taking the form of a village or forest and vanish when the player comes too close, giving a false hope of welcome.

I don’t think that the end’s surface should be covered in thick lush forests as depicted in the better end mod (though that is a great mod don’t get me wrong), I instead think that the dimension’s attractions should be rare and hidden, like a secret oasis. In theory I think that the forests could work well underground with purple trees and grass covering the ground and ceiling.
