Honestly, I feel it's an easy pivot to make. Icewind Dale 3 is low hanging fruit, but they could pick another region on that continent alone and start a whole new string of games, such as Waterdeep, Elturel, Cormyr, the Dalelands, etc. Source material is definitely not lacking for options, it will be having a team willing to take the time to do it well, and WOTC not sticking their fingers in it too much.
