See AllDragon Age: The Veilguard Snags Game of the Year Award
*Spoiler warning* saying the game was review bombed and criticized because of people not supporting lgbtq+ folks is reductive and stunts growth for the industry. Dragon age is a series built on a certain tone and quality of writing that is clearly lacking in veilguard. I love DAO and consider da2 to be a very well written game despite its mediocre gameplay. Veilguard had half baked storylines and completely changed certain characters personalities: I.e morrigan. Varric’s death was well done as a twist but not seeing a relationship build between rook and varric caused it to fall flat. Past Dragon age protagonists felt like a true part of the world where as rook is a blank avatar devoid of opinions, emotions, or flaws. The combat was a big step up for the series, but lack of depth in the writing makes the game shamefully uninteresting. The graphics are not necessarily bad but the art direction is far to Disney-fied. The game wasn’t review bombed, there are legitimate flaws that have to be pointed out or this entire industry will die out.
