Refreshing to see a take that understands that earlier BF games did have a (quite successful) competitive scene. It did die out after BF2, but it was a core part of the early series. And you see games that have held onto those PC roots (e.g., Counter-Strike) can adapt well into create a long-term commercial success, where a competitive scene helps build interest in the game over the years.
