It's a fine idea to use nico in rivals ( I learned about her in the new Spiderman show) but the way you would want to execute it is terrible. Also there is an issue of gooner skins

I think you mean in campaign because Sonic isn't playable in the battle mode, but plugging a second controller in can let you control all companion characters with the exception of Eggman, Charmy, and Black Doom.

I've had an idea for a sequel to 06. Basically, it opens on Solaris reigniting, the same opening cutscene (with that wind felt familiar from Elise). It starts off the same, story-wise, but mephiles tries to force iblis out of Elise (without making her cry.) This leads to a radically different story as mephiles now has some of iblis (becoming more intelligent as the game progresses) and Elise gets to join silver, because when mephiles attempts to force iblis out of Elise, team sonic stops it with a chaos emerald. This separates iblis. At that point Elise remembers 06 and doesn't get too attached to sonic. She also gets to use iblis. (As a replacement for blaze). Plot twist: mephiles 'iblis fraction got too intelligent and tries to destroy everyone Solaris style.
