It's kind of a delusional take on the players side of things.

The terms of service explicitly state this isn't okay. Just because the system's been up for three years hasn't actually changed that - and Square is well within their rights to take it down.

The reviews are wholly unjustified. It sucks. INCREDIBLY so. But that doesn't mean that the players are correct here. We've always been abusing Square's lack of action. This wasn't a matter of if, but when.

Writing was on the wall with PlayerScope. Square understands it's all gotten grossly out of hand and they have to step in - especially since now there's talks of porting FFXIV to the Switch 2 - Nintendo's gonna pull FF off the shelves before it's even on there if Square doesn't act.
