3 colors isn't the same as 3 versions. A separate version would be physically different in some way, although using storage to differentiate is borderline.
I was hoping for a lite model, the standard model, and a premium model with an oled screen, extra storage, and premium sound features including Apt-X low latency codec for Bluetooth.
Performance per watt is obviously the top consideration. Secondarily I'd like to see the Z2E try to optimize for eGPU docked performance, shifting power from the unused GPU on chip to the CPU.
However my understanding is that it is very difficult engineering a chip to excel at both high and low power levels, and the un-docked performance mode is most important.
