I think these ppl who are complaining now,what,a full decade after the fact are embarrassing. I didnt like it at the time either,but you cant take it in a vacuum. It was part of the bigger picture which was

1..They lost the prison,along with several key group members,got seperated & had to hit the road alone.

2. The remaining group all got varying degrees of beaten up in the journey to terminus,except Beth being kidnapped,just to be rounded up like cattle. Save for carol & tyrese.

3. Carol saves them at the last possible moment,& they hole up in that church just long enough for Daryl to accidentally find Beth.

4. After Beth dies,the group starts the journey to DC where they immediately lose Tyrese as well.

All of that adds up to the group being about as low as they can possibly be by the time theyre starving (save for a meal of feral dogs) about to die of thirst, when Aaron arrives like a miracle with the offering of Alexandria. ✌
