The problem isn't really a lack of originality, so much as pokemon just did it first. The majority of pokemon are basic creature/item (cause a set of keys is super creative. And I like klefki) or a mythological creature, ie dragon, Phoenix, titan, kitsune, treant. I've been a fan since gen one but be completely real. And I will give them that it's been more creative in later gens. (Not always good, but at least creative)

Palworld has some similar designs, but I would argue that jormuntide is more seadramon than Gyarados.

Just one of many examples but my point is just that when you draw inspiration from the same source, there will be overlap.
