This is what is known as "elevated horror." I happen love these types of horror movies because they are all metaphorical and you have to pay attention and really think about the message of the metaphors. This movie has no real right or wrong audience interpretation, it is left open ended so as to allow the viewers to draw their own conclusions. The metaphorical aspect of this movie is about mental health issues and the isolation & drama as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic. I have noticed that a lot of people just didn't get it so they didn't like the movie. There are lots of people whose minds just cannot process or comprehend such things leaving them confused. That is okay though.
