I feel there are going to be so many random events/encounters that people are going to be using the in-game phone to record them. It will almost be a game in itself and a companion app would be a cool way to share them.

I don't think they are to worried about playtesting them. Rivals feels like an arcade version of Overwatch. Instead of balance, counters and tactics, they aim more for casual enjoyment.
