There’s just too much out there to sit around and play the same shooters for the same rewards (if you can call em that) with no narrative or actual return on your investment other than the chance to do it all again. As long as your wifi is working correctly, that is.

It’s a valid point. I’m a huge Red Dead fan, but I’ve been bored with GTA since I finished Vice City on my OG Xbox. As we’ve seen with the new CoD entry, there aren’t a lot of guarantees anymore. GTA 6’s success will depend on one thing: what are ROCKSTAR’s goals for GTA 6? If they give us a game aimed at making the fans happy, then it will be a massive success. If they give us a game in line with their corporate values, then it’s a bit trickier to predict. We lost out on Red Dead Online because of GTA Online. Will they continue to stack all their eggs in the Forever Game basket? I hope not!

I hate to see what they’ve let themselves become, but it’s hard to feel any sympathy, either. They are a powerful player with all the titles/IPs they hold, but I can’t imagine they will avoid Sega’s reality, especially as AA and Indy gaming begins to experience a revival.

I think that the aversion to AI in the video game community is so strange. If AI can help out to make a better game, why not use it? At the same time, I understand the fear of its misuse, but it can clearly make aspects of game design more streamlined without reducing quality of experience.
