The article should have really clarified "longest" in the beginning, because it sounds like spatial distance. That being said, USS Excelsior should have been here, it was in straight operation for decades. And the top of the list should have been the USS Discovery. If the Botany Bay counts with drifting a few hundred inactive years, the 900 year jump should count. Also, it wasn't really decommissioned, they left her floating somewhere.
