Yeah, why not? Let's just slowly get rid of everything that makes Elder Scrolls actually unique and enjoyable, because we hate having fun in a single player game, apparently. Why do so many people that write about video games for a living seem to fundamentally misunderstand video games?

CDPR is and has been done with Cyberpunk since 2.1, everything since had been outsourced with maybe a couple executives signing off on progress reports from Virtuous. They haven't gone back on or contradicted anything they've said, not sure what this article is trying to say

I tried to go back to Skyrim after finishing Oblivion (finished Skyrim once when it first came out), made it about a couple hours before I remembered a) the main story fizzles like a wet fart in the end and b) how annoying it was just trying to go from point A to point B without having to detour around a mountain or 15 cliffs and ravines

Yes it has, "gameplay" has always been a lot more than just smacking people with swords and fireballs, especially in an RPG. Saying "gameplay doesn't matter" while referring to maybe 30% of the actual gameplay mechanics is certainly a take
