Didn’t finish the story, but what I read it’s on the seller. GameStop has always had a policy for buying complete systems not just the main console part. I used to work for GameStop and the only reason they can even keep their doors open is because of them reselling old consoles so when they need to take other items out of inventory to replace parts you left out it cost them more and if it is a every time occurrence for trade in they will inevitably have to close their doors. People would get mad at that just like they would get mad that we would have to turn a system away if it had an excessive amount of dust around the vents.
