Truth. We don't need another retelling of "The Stand". Now I would have loved for the third attempt at "'Salems Lot" to have gotten it right, but it fell shorter than the previous two attempts, which deviated too far from the book for me. The King story "One For the Road", from the anthology "Night Shift", is a brief look at life in the area after "'Salems Lot " concluded, would be a good film. Otherwise, those classics should be left alone for the time.
Final Destination May Owe a Debt to a 1961 Twilight Zone Episode
The Twilight Zone episode only showed an exploding plane at the end of the episode. The protagonist had the recurring dream of a woman leading her to a morgue saying "Room for one more". She only knew it was a premonition of impending doom. Still I can see how it may have influenced the first film.

Yes the film was terrifying and unsettling. A prequel has its work cut out because....we know how it will end. I'd prefer a movie but I'll open my wallet for the comics. "Hell is just a word to you" is a quote that gave/gives me chills to this day. Freaky

Bernthal did a good job but the backstory ruined it. The culprit was the CIA and not the Mob? I liked Thomas Jane in the role best. Tampa as opposed to NY was bizarre but it worked. None of them came close to Garth Ennis' vision of The Punisher but Tom Jane came closest.
