Ex Bethesda Dev Thinks a Switch to Unreal Engine 5 Would Be Better for the Company
Ue5 looks nice but some people seem to forget some of the most important things with engines. And that is their strengths and weaknesses.
For instance let's look at one of the most advanced and arguably best ever engine for it's genre, that is frostbite created for battlefield 3 by dice. This engine was purpose built for massive scale destruction, and was able to pull off the most seamless destruction movement and physics with unparalleled graphics, not only making it look real but feel real, it could do things not even modern call of duty can, and this was almost 14 years ago.
But on that same note EA has since opted to use it for almost everything. And people who play some EA rpgs will know, that kills them hard.....dragon age is a prime example of this.
Just because ue5 looks nice and would make the creation of say fallout 5 easier doesnt mean it'll make a better game. Ue5 doesn't like the scale of radiant quests cells loaded etc of bethesda games. The draw on system would be immense, on that same topic the fully moveable/interaction with all objects would also add some massive strain.
They could use it and it's be smoother and prettier 100%, but you'd lose about 98% of the game as payment for those looks.
Then there's the last part, modding......switching to ue5 would almost destroy the modding scene due to how much less freedom it allows....and especially after starfield harming mods would all but destroy bethesda entirely.
Borderlands 4's 'Dangerous and Sinister' Villain Could Be Just What the Series Needs
To be fair this is borderlands. Where more dangerous and sinister is like....Dr.Ned(whos totally not Dr.Zed from the last story) or general Knoxxtrap.
Considering the series roots of reviving villains and twisting them with eridian magic or psycho robotics itd be not only awesome but we'll within borderlands to do it again.
Also I'd pay money for a hyperion interplanetary ninja assassin jack, can even ride a robot butt stallion
