I hear what you're saying and I am excited to see what direction they take in the game! If GTA released games ever few years I would lean more in your direction but since it only comes out every decade or so I am happy with an over the top style story! I will assume the protagonist are out for the score of a lifetime and I'm excited to be racing some car that I never will be able to afford through the side of a skyscraper with millions of dollars fly out of the backseat! To your point though, the progression to get there could be more of what you're saying!
