In my personal opinion, Uncharted 4, Ghost of Tsushima, and Red Dead Redemption 2 should have won Game of the Year in each of their respective years.

As much as I love Tears of the Kingdom (TotK), the selection of Baldur's Gate 3 was the correct choice. TotK was fantastic, but it suffered from using the same map as Breath of the Wild (though the addition of the depths was grand!).

I don't find this to be unfair at all. Rather, the governments of Belgium and the Netherlands should have considered the implication of mobile games in their laws. Nintendo has likely weighed the options, and it doesn't make sense to change the very nature of this game due to laws that affect only two countries (so far).

I'm not entirely sure why a country government would decide that its people don't have the freedom to gamble, if they wish...but that's a different conversation for a non-gaming website.

Or...and this is just a thought...he could instead donate that $15M to a cause that helps existing people in New Zealand. Instead of playing Hammond in Jurassic Park (and how did that work out?), why not help the local homeless and those devastated by natural disasters get back on their feet? It's his money, and he can do whatever he wants with it, but this comes across as tone-deaf, in my humble opinion.

But I agree. An open world Batman Beyond would be amazing. Gliding through the futuristic Gotham City from the animated show would be a breath of fresh air for the franchise.

For me, nothing compares to Flanagan's The Haunting of Hill House. The history of the family and the scene-stealing spooks around every corner made the series an absolute masterpiece. Not to mention the superb episode in the funeral home.

I also enjoyed Gerald's Game and The Fall of the House of Usher. I really wanted to like Midnight Mass more. The early vampire scenes were eerie, and the townspeople were interesting, but it was inevitably brought down by the insipid monologue at the end of the series and the bashing of Christianity while putting other religions on a pedestal.

I'm very glad to hear that the producers of the film are involving the game's creator in the process. The love for the series was evident in the first movie, and this is likely due to Scott having his voice heard.

If there's one Stephen King property that doesn't need a reboot, it's The Shawshank Redemption. The movie holds up so well today and is considered by many to be one of the best films ever made.

Now, I'm hoping that the Dark Tower series gets its reboot as a TV series. I know that Mike Flanagan was originally attached to the project, but I'm not sure there has been any news on it recently.

The answer is 100% Skyward Sword. I like the game, but it is completely held back by its linear nature. Also, the introduction of the stamina bar. In a game like BotW or Totk, it makes sense...but not in Skyward Sword.

I prefer Super Mario Galaxy myself because it was tied together very well. SMG2 had better levels, but it felt like DLC of the first one (not a bad thing in this case, in my opinion).

That being said, Super Mario Odyssey should have had a sequel published years ago.

I'm not a fan of turn-based RPGs, so this is a miss for me. I actually enjoyed the combat in Hogwarts Legacy, but the sequel needs more interaction between spells and more enemy types.

"Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" was one of my favorite animated films of the past decade. It tackled adult issues while remaining family-friendly in a startling good way. It's a shame that the teaser at the end of the movie may not come to pass.

I don't think this is a valid critique. If I saw "Deadpool & Wolverine" in theaters (and I would bet quite a few people saw it more than once), then why would I rush to watch it on a streaming platform? On the other hand, if I didn't want to spend the sometimes ludicrous amount of money on a theater ticket to watch a poorly-reviewed movie, it costs me nothing to watch it on a streaming platform I already subscribe to.

This is not a huge "Madame Web" success in that it doesn't prove that it has some new fanbase. It just means people don't mind spending their Friday nights watching an action movie if it costs them nothing. To say that "Madame Web" beat "Deadpool & Wolverine" is a bit of a technicality. And a disingenuous one at that.

This is really a non-issue. The MCU is fairly representative of the Marvel comics themselves. The vast majority of heroes are male as comic books in general were primarily marketed to young males. The MCU movies are similarly focused with the majority of their audience coming from the young to middle-aged male demographic. That's not to say women don't watch the movies, but men watch them more. Obviously, you want to cater to your primary audience. Especially after a few projects that were female-led but failed to materialize the box office magic of the other MCU projects.
