I would say this game resembles Harvest Moon even more than Stardew Valley, which is the game that most heavily inspired Stardew Valley to begin with. The dog in this new game closely resembles one of the dogs in Harvest Moon, with the same fur color and same red bandana around it's neck. Harvest Moon is also created in an anime style. Stardew Valley is great, but it's crazy how it has surpassed Harvest Moon to the point people don't even remember that Harvest Moon exists.
