See AllToei Animation's 3D Musical Drama Is One of the Best Shows of 2024
Hello,
Girls Band Cry, in subtitled version, has been globally available via Crunchyroll streaming since 6 Nov 2024. Regrettably it failed to break through in the USA and western world, mostly due to the MC Iseri Nina's divisive personality. So many anime viewers outside of Asia apparently don't find Nina endearing but an:
ADHD, Egomaniac, Emotionally unstable petulant child, Flies off the handle easily, Grating, Hate her guts, Hypocryte, Over-emotional in a bad way, Pain in the butt, Prone to severe mood swings, Quarrelsome, Quickly drains the social batteries of viewers, Stews in her grudges, Unbearable, Unbusinesslike i.e. Monologues instead of the singing concert-goers paid for..., Unsufferable, Throwing temper tantrums in public is no-no, etc. (Vocabulary collected by me, based on review entries found in various online forums.)
I think only talented and creative dubbing could salvage Girls Band Cry in the western cultural sphere.
7 Best CG Anime Of 2024, Ranked
The 2014 CGI anime movie "Expelled from Paradise" (made by a production committee including Toei Studio) was super popular in Japan. It will receive a sequel titled Liberated from Paradise in 2025, possibly using the tech developed for Girls Band Cry.
There is also Kemono Friends season 1 (an ultra-budget CGI anime made in the aftermath of a failed smartphone game that exploded hugely due to cute characters and a charming story). By the way, KF s2 doesn't exist and if anybody tells you it does, better not believe them!
High Score Girl s1 / s2 were intentionally made with cheap-looking / quite ugly CGI since the original manga's author could barely draw and studio wanted to avoid facelifting it, so as to preserve the rawness of its story.
