I'm glad they're finally moving away from the 1v1 turn based battles that have become so dated and boring.

It does seem half baked though, the battles don't seem amazing.

But I won't leave a review for a game I'm not going to play.

Last last mainline pokémon game I played was sun, and I got too bored to beat it.

I beat Y, but it wasn't spectacular.

I played emerald a bit but I got bored.

I 100% completed the dex in blue and silver, and they just haven't changed enough since then, so I'm glad to see them trying something else. They just don't go far enough.

I'll stick to the spinoffs.

Unite is fun, snap was fun, mystery dungeon was good as far as I remember.

truta definitely a personal preference thing.

I liked Hollow Knight more but I've always been a massive fan of metroidvanias.

But Hades was awesome, I still put 57 hours into it.

I got it and I immediately thought the card was busted.

Giratina EX needs to pass on two energy turns before it can attack on the 3rd.

It has 20 extra HP, but it does 20 damage to itself when it attacks. So effectively the same health.

You can use a tank of some sort for giratina EX, but that tank can't do anything because you need to use broken space below or giratina EX takes even longer to get online.

Meanwhile, tapu koko excels at being your starting pokémon.

It can attack on your first energy turn, and will be finishing off any pokémon that need to evolve by your second.

It doesn't require the setup of genetic apex Pikachu EX, making it more versatile for different deck types.

It has a retreat cost of one.

Whoever wrote this article must have forgot the Pacharisu ex deck, and that was only doing 80 damage by its second energy turn, not 110.

Why the hell would you expect to fully complete each set as they come out, especially as a free-to-play player?

I like these release rates.

Just what I'm starting to get a set down to needing just a dozen or so cards, a new set releases so I'm not sitting there opening packs full of duplicates repeatedly and can get something fresh.

Of course I also save up my hourglasses till I have enough to open at least 10 packs at the start of a new set, rather than use them rolling dice hoping I get one of a handful of rares.

So I go into a new set with some guaranteed new toys to play with.

To do the same thing with Pokedex you need to look at your cards, decide the next few aren't useful, then use a pokeball to shuffle.

In Magic the Gathering a similar ability to Rotomdex would be Scry, but that let's you put the top card on the bottom of your deck to avoid it, and often comes as a weaker ability tied to something else.

It's weird how useless these items are, Rotomdex would have been great if it had a draw 1 effect after the shuffle option.

All you really have to do is log in once a day to open your two packs, that takes like 5 minutes.

You shouldn't be expecting to complete every set before the next one comes out while being a free-to-play player that's just unrealistic.

But I've still mostly completed the sets, and been able to build some pretty decent decks when I get duplicates of certain cards.

If you're trying to build the popular decks, and you need very specific cards, then yeah you better be expecting to pay money.

But back when GiratinaEX, DarkraiEX, Magneton was popular, I was still pulling wins with Victoreebell, Vileplume by pulling Darkrai forward with Victeebell and taking advantage of that grass weakness, or getting lucky with Vileplume sleep.

So it's not like you absolutely need to follow the "meta" to compete.

It's only really a tough grind if you want to get all of the event promo stuff.

Getting 50 wins to get Rayquaza was a little bit of a pain.

And I guess I brag here, as a free player, I still have three shiny CharizardEX and a shiny Blastoise, though I still don't have GiratinaEX.

So it's still possible to get good cards.

I always thought it was dumb that, for example, Brock only affected golem and onyx, but Misty could be applied to any water types.

I mean it's still possible that future releases make Brock playable, but Misty has and always will be playable.

My favorite supporter is pot of greed. I mean professor oak.

It's not really that hard to micromanage.

A little annoying maybe when you edit a deck and forget to change the energy, but far from pressing.

A more useful thing to address would be being able to change the ratio of energies.

Like say I have a fire water deck, but fire is a more critical energy.

It would be helpful to say I want fire 60% of the time and water 40% of the time or whatever

Lol, whoever wrote this article must be slow in the head.

In a game where like half of the cards tell you to flip a coin, the claim that it's only now become luck based is absolutely hilarious.

It's a poorly designed game and has no right having a competitive scene of any kind.

Single stage EX pokémon were so obscenely powerful that it was inevitable that something like this would happen.

Especially when the game forces a basic Pokemon in your opening hand at the start.

Even still, rare candy is being used to get stupid stage 2 EX Pokemon.

I don't think anyone's using it to quickly get out victreebell or rhyperior.

We already have non-ex Pokemon with psychic.

Colorless helps, but if those other psychic effects weren't destroying Giratina then risking two points isn't going to make things better.
