Ah, yes, the director that people praise as “the man who created the best adaptation ever.” Where? A few callbacks and generic ideas from the game doesn’t make something “the best adaptation ever.” This movie – and director – completely misses the point of the games and decides to ret-con his own version of the game(s) into a mesh of shallow cosmetics, confusing understanding of the product, and shallow story-telling. This movie leans heavily on telling us everything and barely showing what those things mean.
