I see the pros and cons of both. I like the feeling of progression and how it gives you something to strive for. But then again, if you don't have enough time to play to get the stuff you actually want, that's no fun. I experience the same issue in other games with similar "battle pass" type unlockables.

I kind of agree. Especially for people who don't have more than an hour or two a day to play, the 5 mill is almost unreachable. By the time they do get it and can go on an Expedition, other players will have 5, 10, 15 extra skill points. It kind of creates a permanent imbalance, those who can play a lot and those who can't, which partly defeats the purpose of a wipe.

I'm sorry if you misunderstood. The only place in this article that the words "free to play" are used is in your comment. The article says "claim for free" a few times, which is accurate. But since the offer expired at 10:00 a.m. PT and you made this comment at 6:30 p.m., it seems that you may have just missed it.

"It is available to claim for free from Steam until December 18 at 10 AM PST." As you made this post at 7:30 PM, I'm guessing that you tried to claim it after the offer was already over. Sorry you missed it.

I really wish other games did it this way. Once Human wipes everything before I'm ready to go, and being a casual now, I have never gotten back to where I was with that first run before it gets wiped again.
