They reused ultrahand in Echoes of Wisdom. Some items are basically guaranteed to be in any Zelda game. Would also argue that Nintendo, generally, fears few controversies. Never know what we'll see on the next game, but I do know I enjoyed the challenge of breakable weapons and so did many other people.
