Throughout my playthroughs, I’ve noticed a pattern in terms of marriage candidates (vanilla NPCs, no mods).

I marry Harvey about half the time because I’m lowkey in love with him, and a low drama, chill NPC spouse makes the rest of the game SO much easier to concentrate on. I marry Abigail about 20% of the time because she’s the exact opposite of Harvey, and that’s a fun gameplay angle sometimes. I marry Elliott and Maru about 10% of the time each, as they’re both highly cerebral and focused, and I marry Shane and Hailey about 5% of the time each. Shane because he’s clever and eventually he’s also motivated. Also blue chickens. And Hailey because who doesn’t love a good redemption arc? Neither of them are particularly attractive to me, but I DO enjoy their storylines a lot.

I’ve married Sebastian once (And yes, he’s awesome, I also love frogs, just not my type). I’ve never married Alex or Sam because if you need to sneak me in the window so Mommy doesn’t find out, or if you need to think I can’t play gridball because your dad was an arse, then I don’t know what to tell you other than no thanks. And I’ve never married Penny, because marrying Penny would make me feel really guilty about something I can’t quite put my finger on. I’ve never married Emily, because she’s a bit.. Much for me… sorry, she’s adorable, but she’s a LOT. I’ve never married Leah, because Leah feels more like someone I’d become close, lifelong friends with, not date.

I’ve played this game a few times, if that isn’t abundantly clear already.
