I thought that the sea god fruit would end up being the one piece. The ability to control the seas and something Luffy can't possibly obtain, which would make the ending pretty intense. I figured this would be why Shanks never used the Niko Niko no mi; he was waiting on the bigger prize. If Shanks isn't the final villain, I'll eat my socks.
