I'm surprised that Witcher III didn't even get an honorable mention. The landscapes are so well crafted, and there're enough little surprises that never appear on your map, that you are rewarded for just going for a wander, and there have definitely been times where I just fired that game up, picked a direction, and took Roach for a good ramble.
