See AllIt's the End of an Era for the PS4
With PS4 being 12 years old this year, I'm shocked at how many people are singing it's praises. It's an fx 8350 with an HD 7870 GPU. The PS4 Pro is going on 9 years old, too. I can see Sony wanting to sunset both at this point. Being as they made a Pro console the original will get the last gasps along with it for another year or so before the PS6 is launched.
Whereas many in the comments are claiming PS4 forever, I find them for $50-$80 used at this point. With the economy being what it is playing PS4's library now is not a bad idea if you missed it. Plus you can play those games on PS4 Pro and PS5. It seems PS5 and Pro will be like the PS3 and the PS4 and Pro more like the PS2. With Sony seemingly OK with games being released for older consoles it doesn't seem like a bad deal, either.
The inevitable arrival of the PS6 will change the landscape, of course.
Looking back PS1 TO PS2 was 5 years. PS2 to PS3 was 6 years. PS3 to PS4 was 7 years. PS4 to PS5 was also 7 years. I would expect the PS6 in 2027 or 2028 despite the very optimistic 2026 being bandied about.
