See AllBioWare Has Disappointing News for Dragon Age: The Veilguard Fans
I think you're listening to the wrong people. You sound like every single person I've seen who opens their mouth and criticizes the game, but never once even gave it a try from start to finish. So many people have cried and complained about a game changing after 10 years, expecting more of the same but not realizing that 10 years of development wasn't going to see that last or even succeed.
So many have cried about the inclusion in the game, calling it pandering. But it's no more pandering than allowing players to be straight white men.
Second, crying about the graphics. The graphics actually grow on you, and they're nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. Second off, had they done realism, the game would not have been nearly as successful because realism graphics don't age well. Not to mention if they continue with this art direction in the future, the odds of future DA games taking as long to develop will be slim.
Narratively, the story takes a bit to get going which is pretty typical for any good story. But when it gets going, it GETS GOING. The characters are some of the best I've seen, and I've played Origins, DA2, and Inquisition. I love all of those characters but the companions in Veilguard are some of the best yet.
Their stories are compelling, I feel for a number of them, and while dialogue sometimes had awkward moments in the beginning, it really picked up later. There is so much blood, gore, and grit. The tonal shifts throughout the game have had me on the edge of my seat. This game has made its way into my top 5 most favorite games of all time.
It's not a perfect game. No game is or will be. But it is a wonderful game, with a very awesome foot in the right direction for a reboot of the series. Which is something everyone who has played the game will agree.
