The absolute's story line follows the paradigm of Akar Kessell's campaign in the Icewind Dale Trilogy.. They're goblinoid creatures. Simple minds are dominated readily by mildly compelling dieties such as Crinshinibon or whatever is driving Ketheric Thorms conquest. [No spoilers here]
They're goblins, they're fodder; that's their function.
I've never once thought "you know, I wish they'd show the rich, storied, and diverse history of goblin culture".. There's less than zero romance there.
