I believe that in ToP arc Kale overwhelmed Goku and was only stopped by Jiren when he decided to intervene. Goku was only able to fend off a controlled super Saiyan Kale and Kaulifla once he reached UI for a second time. I wouldn't doubt that they differ but it seems Kale got the old version of the legendary SS where anger consumes her completely since they went in another direction with Broly.
