See AllSteam Begins Removing Games After Updating Its Publishing Rules
Probably they had up add this very broad rule due to payment processor pressure. Becayse as much as they should be neutral and compete with each other, top tier payment processors are neither. They love to push certain agendas in interest of corporations or elites and when one threatens to stop doing business with you, all of them do it. And then you are in front of a choice to either comply, what Valve did, or switch to second tier payment providers. Those are second tier because quality is lower, there are more problems,... But worst, if you go to them, they know exactly why you are there, it isn't because you want to go there, it is because you got no choice. So their margins and fees are much higher, since they know you got no real choice.
What Valve chose here is kind of lesser evil for themselves. Sure they might need to remove some games, but this will be best for business. And they can keep taking Mastercard, Visa, PayPal,... Oposed to sticking to their guns and going to some unknown second tier provider and then lose out on cut they get. Which would be better for users as there would be more freedom in content.
Though knowing Valve, they usually are pretty lazy with curating storefront, so chances are they will do bare minimum to keep payment providers happy. But they are far from being first ones to get hit with it. They of course they to not say it, but this is pretty clear on what happened.
Game Publisher Group Says Stop Killing Games Movement's Proposals Would 'Curtail Developer Choice'
Yeah, signatures were just first part of bigger war. A battle was won. Now lobbies of gaming industry will start pushing back with excuses. And of course with classic legalized spying excuse, "think of the children". But Al if it is just excuses. All they need to do is prepare for end of life for game and either make offline mode that will keep working, release dedicated server as is, so you can host your own server and of course client disclaimer that you are connecting to any server at your own responsibility. Or release API and let fabs to make private server. Or find some was that they end of life game in playable state or allow community to continue supporting it with private servers. The whole risks are exactly the same as they are already with mods and stuff we got today and they never objected.
So yeah, prepare for more battles, I do wish everyone with Stop Killing Games good luck.
For Oblivion Remastered, a Single Missed Opportunity May Have Killed Its Chance at Longevity
It needs time. GameBryo Engine from Morrowind, which they rebranded to Creation Engine is here for a long time. Of course there are ton of mods, pepper got really good at modding with it. And SDK or Creation Kit helped a lot. But remembering old days, a lot we got with Skyrim wasd built on experience from before and wasn't there on older titles.
Also there is modding scene for Oblivion Remaster. They are getting better at it. But it is slower as people are learning how to mod it. UE5 is moldable, there are tools for it out there. Just lack of SDK isn't helping, Bethesda also deliberately throttled or sabotaged it, probably to make case for their laziness and use of Creation Engine, but it was purely their decision, not limitation. And getting used to work on hybrid of two engines takes time. Game is still in simplified way running Creation Engine underneath Unreal Engine 5. So it isn't purely one engine. And you can't exactly compare decades of modding experience with something pepper had months to learn. Or more than decade of creating mods with months. Like Skyrim had a lot less in first few months than today. Site due to experience with Oblivion modding, more than Oblivion Remaster, but mods also were nowhere close to level of quality they are today.
One Oblivion Remastered Class is Not For Everyone
Never really struggled with healer in Oblivion. Yes, you don't play it as traditional healer, obviously. But spells like absorb heath are fairly powerful while keeping you alive. And destruction is nothing to sneeze at. And while you definitely do level weapon skills slower, you still do. But in meantime, alchemy is your best ally.
Sure, if you roleplay proper, it has challenges, but if you do not, it isn't as bad as described. Not best for sure, but not terrible.
And they shouldn't remove it like Bethesda tends to with everything that isn't getting a lot of use. There can be more niche classes and they should just embrace it. Plus it is actually more satisfying playing those, than guide based min/max build. It can be much more rewarding getting it working and then funding situations where it excels at. That especially is more reearding if it is not common.
One Oblivion Remastered Quest Features an Impossible Choice
Never really put a thought into it. I got asked to hunt unicorn, I hunt unicorn. I am not going back there over and over again to ride unicorn. That is too much hassle. So I just did the quest. Like side of keeping unicorn alive just isn't rewarding, almost at all. It would be way more, if it was unique mount to tame and had something horses don't. Then it would be actually choice worth considering. Sure armor isn't special, but I do like the looks of it.
As is, it is just really roleplaying choice, not really reinforced with gameplay.
It Looks Like GTA 6 Will Be 30 FPS
Let's see if game actually looks as good as cinematic trailer while playing. GTA5 also looked better than it did when it came out. Even if some of that was in engine, those cinematic scripted on rails scenes can do way higher quality than possible during gameplay with free movement.
Aldo trailer locked to 30FPS doesn't necessarily mean game will be. Could be that Tus was just framerates that they decided on for trailer, since most TouTube qualities are 30FPS.
And also thee is still chance hat game might have either 60FPS mode or uncapped mode that would do like 50FPS. Like some games do and to be frank, visual downgrades are that badly noticeable.
Just saying. Got no horse in this race, I will wait for PC release. But it feels bit weirtld for Rockstar not making higher FPS mode.
