There's also the item drops that changed with the enemy level increase. Sometimes it paid to hit the high level enemies instead of refining cards to get items.

I was about to say the same. You could get some of the best spells by simply taking cards and refining them, then taking the items to do the same.

Yeah, running battles against multiple enemies with NO recovery time, save points, or other options to rest are what gets the heart to pounding (and blood pressure to spiking) in FF games.

I liked the Boost with FF8 where you tapped to make the attack stronger. And one tap too many resets you to 0 again. It made for a challenged on boss fights where a boosted attack could be a lifesaver.

Knew Bruce Lee would be first. It was nice to see the nod to Cynthia Rothrock. She's often overlooked. Honestly, they need to expand to 20 because there are so many who deserve to be named who aren't. Bolo Yeung comes to mind quickly.
