One of my most anticipated games of the year on PSVR2 (on PS5). I love being in the Alien world (have dabbled with isolation back on PCVR some years ago and even 'enjoyed' colonial marines while others hated it - my first alien game being Alien Trilogy back on PS1 in the 90s which was amazing at the time) and as VR is my main way to play anything these days, this should be awesome.

I'm just hoping they've taken full advantage of PSVR2's extras like HDR and head haptics (I'm sure adaptative triggers were a given), and moreso than they enhance it for PS5 PRO which many PSVR2 users are getting/interested in for how it can push VR better.

12/3 was the launch date of PS1 in Japan.

That said, the whole anniversary thing is stupid, it looks worse in out-dated (even for the 90s; and yes I had a PS1 bought on launch day back then) grey and you pay more (esp to scalpers). Regular Pro is more than fine and doesn't reek of desperate man child-itis.

This. I ordered the standard pro. Have no idea why kind of nostalgia addled children want to pay even more stupid prices just to have it in a colour that already looked outdated and cheap even in the 90s (yes I had PS1 and bought it on launch day back then). It doesn't look too bad as an object in itself, out of context, but once you put it in any modern room it's going to look hideous and old-fashioned.

I might actually buy this game due to this upgrade on PRO (when my pro arrives of course), wasn't that interested previously as do my racing in VR on GT7 but the upgrades do look nice.

*Of course... I'd prefer a VR mode on PSVR2 even more but unlikely. I used to work at codemasters (Juice Studios at the Southam location) 20 years back, lol, Race Driver 2 era. Completely irrelevant but I'd actually forgotten until I saw the Codemasters name (weird)

Day one for me. PSVR2 has been the best VR of my life, having started 10 years back with rift DK2 and had vive, rift cv1, psvr1, quest 2, quest pro...blah blah. PSVR2 with PS5 specifically (even though I also bought the adapter and use it on my FAST PC where it's also the best I've had) is awesome, because of how slick it all is and the power behind it to do it justice. It's the best of all worlds - console like low friction (and without headset charging/simple plug and play) and PC like power. PS5 PRO (eventually) will only make it better!

Metro and Aliens are going to be best played on PSVR2+PS5 with the advanced head and trigger haptics, OLED with HDR and simple plug n play/fast resume play. Both are day one for me.

Bring. It. On. One of my favourite ever game series, I started with RE1 on PS1 back in the 90s. Capcom > please give it a VR mode on PS5/PSVR2 like 4RM and Village, as I can't play them any other way but in VR NOW (and have to resort to PC VR mods for the ones that don't have official/better mods).

Like Capcom are reading this.. But you know, just sending it out there.;)

pffft... I loved most of the RE games going back to RE1 on PS1 in the 90s (and later the GC remake in 2002), obviously I didn't like RE5/6 as anyone with taste shouldn't...

But I don't really gel with this list, putting age old games like the OG RE4 (which WAS not just my fave RE game for years but a top 5 all time fave game generally) at #1 when the remake improves on it massively.

Maybe... Just maybe the remake doesn't hit quite like the OG did back in the 2000s, sure, but it's RE4 'done right' for the time and IN VR.. And for me VR beats anything flat. Which is why I also highly rate VILLAGE (PSVR2/VR)... Without VR maybe I'd also put it down the list below 7, 2 and OG 4, but no.. For me both RE4RM VR and Village VR on PS5+PSVR2 are the PINNACLE of all that's great about MODERN RESIDENT EVIL but in full on immersion mode (gameplay remains and infact is even better in VR too!).

RE 7 would be #3 (even though I've played all these on PC too with VR mods) it just needs a proper capcom official update to PSVR2 instead of letting it languish on PSVR1. IF they did that then it would probably jump to the top of the list with RE4RM VR and Village VR below it.

2 Was great, sure, but still a touch archaic without VR and without the full immersion of First person.

A full on RE1 VR remake (first person) along the lines of RE4 Remake would also vy for the top for me.

RE4 is my all time favourite due to the memories, and the fact I can now play the remake on PSVR2 putting me IN THAT WORLD I loved so much. RE4 was so awesome in its day for both gameplay and especially atmosphere.

RE1 will always be special (but needs a remake inc PSVR2 mode - yes I also played the Gamcube remake and the PS3 remaster of that...) As I bought it day one in the 90s and was blown away.

RE2 is very solid, the remake is great, but I'm actually one of the rare 'fans' of RE that doesn't go crazy over it. It feels a little restricted and even the remake shows up its origins. That said it has great atmosphere in the remake and in VR (PC MOD) it's great.

RE7 Has probably the gnarliest and most unsettling of stories, and worlds, It's def top 3 for me but desperately needs and update and make-over for PS5/PSVR2!! Come on Capcom!

RE Village - I LOVE IT - But... Only in VR on PSVR2. Weirdly I only half played it flat then lost interest a bit back in the day, but when the VR mode came for PSVR2 I went back and was blown away. VR makes all the difference. Weapon handling and Flashlight use is stunning in Village (a bit better than RE4RM VR but that does have other things that elevate it too).

So... If RE7 was on PSVR2 that would no doubt be vying for top along with RE4RMVR and Village VR. As it stands... I'll go with RE4 RM VR as my overall favourite and Village VR second. I would play this on PSVR2 over EVERY OTHER RE no matter how good, that doesn't have a VR mode.

The PC VR mods are ok, but not awesome like the official capcom modes. I hope Capcom go back soon and give them all PSVR2 modes and RE7 esp.

(continued) And to be able to go back to RE1, 30 years later and step into that mansion again in awesome OLED HDR VR with trigger haptics, and literally feel what it would really be like is every reason in the world to warrant a remake (here's hoping Capcom actually DO give it an official VR MODE like 4 and Village they really should as they're true VR fans and know which way the wind is now blowing for immersion).

So anyone who claims to be a true fan would more than welcome the chance to go back and revisit those places of our gaming youth, but be IN those worlds with a whole new way of playing and being challenged, in a future facing/breath-taking format. I can not believe you're so stuck in the past you'd take a 22 year old remake as the definitive and only vision for the original mass market survival horror. As said, it shows narrow mindedness and a lack of imagination. You are always free to continue playing that old version if YOU wish, most of us have moved on long ago.

Calling us fake fans? I was there day one for RE1 on PS1 in the 90s. One of my all time favourite games. I also owned the Gamecube and loved RE4 (moreso than 1) due to the changes it made. I also played the GC remake of RE1 AND rebought it AGAIN on PS3/4 with the HD remaster.

NONE of that is important or relevent to what Capcom in 2026 wish to do with THEIR I.P. I'd argue you are massively stuck in the past, a luddite and very short-sighted. RE4 Remake ( a game I also bough the old HD remaster of on PS3 even though I'd played the original on Gamecube) is stunning thanks to the remake, there's no way in 2024 I'd ever care to go back to the OG now, nor even the remaster in HD as times move on and our perceptions shift. It's next to impossible for me, and many, to get 're-immersed' in old games if they retain woefully outdated graphics and controls (and often gameplay systems).

WE the RE TRUE FANS will support Capcom and Resident Evil in as many remakes as they wish until their original vision is the best it could ever be given the tech of the time. I now play RE exclusively in VR on PSVR2 (and the others Modded to VR on PSVR2 with PC adapter), it's the best way to play them hands down... Forget your weird love for 'tank controls' which were terrible in the 90s are always will be, VR is THE BEST WAY TO PLAY any RE, but RE1 isn't suitable due to how it's rendered and constrained by old tech.

Now whether they remake it like RE2 with the third person or go completely crazy and go full modern RE with it (First Person) matters little to TRUE FANS who will enjoy the best vision of RE1, a superb classic but stuck in its time even with the remaster which is already 22 years old fgs! And I for one would def welcome a first person RE1 remaster, why not? I don't play RE's for 'gamey aspects' (like arcade games of old), I play them to be in those worlds, soaked in immersion, First person is best for that, but VR is best! RE4RMVR+8VR FTW!
