See All‘That Book Is Never Getting Finished’ George R. R. Martin’s New Project Announcement Has Fans Accepting The Winds of Winter’s Fate
It was a big mistake from George to allow the show to leap past what he had already written. He now does not get to do the big reveals of his story. He gave the showrunners a heads up where the story was headed. Sure there will be different aspects, more detail in the books if he finishes, but at the end of the day Bran will be king like it or not and Jon will be banished back to The Wall. I think that may be at the heart of his issue of not finishing, the project no longer interests him. I don't know if I will ever pick up a So g of Ice and Fire again. I think he would need to finish the final volume as well before I purchased it. It is disappointing to say the least. I moved on from his writings a while ago. There are many other good fantasy authors out there these days.
George R. R. Martin Will Never Finish The Winds of Winter (& Here's Why)
I gave up on him finishing ASOIAF a long way back. I personally think he lost interest / wrote himself into a corner with this series. My view is if he finishes then good, but it would have to be both books finished before I buy and re-read the whole thing. I understand that if he dies before finishing it is his wish that the story is not completed by another writer, like Brandon Sanderson did with The Wheel of Time. There are so many good fantasy authors out there now, lots of good fantasy fiction to read, so I am not losing any sleep over will he or won't he finish. He need to take a leaf out of Brandon Sanderson, he knows how to write sprawling series and at quite the pace too.
