8 Game-Changing Open-World Games Every Fan Of The Genre Needs To Play
Fervently disagree on several of these. Shadow of the Colossus had AWFUL, disorienting controls. Couldn't get into it for that reason. Wanted to, but couldn't. Elden Ring is great. We agree there. Red Dead Redemption 2 sucked. The story was garbage. I couldn't stay with it because I didn't give a rat's as$ about Dutch or his stupid gang. The narrative sucked because it made no effort to get me invested in Dutch or his gang or his perfect society or whatever it was he was trying to do. It just dumped me into it and commanded me to care about these people and their cause, to the point where I'd be willing to lay down my life for them. I ended up just wishing the game would have let me waste all of them, then set out to do my own thing. Also, it sucked that I couldn't access the RDR1 map in single player mode. RDR2 is a classic example of a developer trying so hard to make a great game, that they forgot to make a good one.
