PlayStation Comments on Possibility of Xbox Leaving Console Business
I don't see it happening. I don't see Xbox leaving the console business anytime soon, it would simply make no sense. Think about it for a minute.
Microsoft buys up all of these huge developmen houses that make massively popular triple A games like Bethesda, Id Software, Activision/Blizzard and then about a year after those aquisitions are final people are saying that Xbox is leaving the console business?
I'm sorry but that makes no sense at all. Plus I hear an entirely different story coming from other websites.
If Microsoft is truly making the Hybrid Console/PC that is buzzing around the rumor mill as the next Xbox then that box with the ability to run other game stores like Steam, Epic Games and GoG and play their games could very well be sufficient to start driving some companies out of business.
I think it could destroy Nintendo and do serious harm to Sony if they fail to get on board and keep being greedy and playing the exclusive nonsense.
After the aqusistion of those game studios. My bet is on Microsoft releasing something huge as the next Xbox.
Older guys and gals remember the browser wars from back in the 90s Netscape was the clear leader everyone used it but Netscape wasn't free. Microsoft comes along with Internet Explorer and gives it away for free. Now practically no one even remembers Netscape.
Micrsoft's strategy of getting rid of exclusives is just a variation from the same playbook. When they did that Internet Explorer was THE browser for a few years until finally Firefox and Chrome came along. Watch and see. I think something big is coming for Xbox and it will be a winner if they can keep it affordable and don't try the storage expansion cards again.
