Not really. Read in an article before that Gohan is "supposed" to be the ultimate warrior, eventually surpassing Goku...which would in turn leave Vegeta in the dust.

Not everything has to have a prequel. While it would be nice to some degree, I'd rather rely on my own imagination and thoughts of things.
Revisiting the past can be beneficial, but given the current climate of remakes, rewrites, new visions, and even prequels or sequels, the changes made to canon can be drastic and ruin certain aspects in canon.
If people want a prequel, go digging around and look into "what if" stories. There's plenty out there.
