Its sad if thats the reality but Square Enix or Square Soft back than raely ever listen to their english fanbase when comes to Final Fantasy.. The japanese loved FF8 if i am not mistaken

Niche? FF8 was just as well received as 7 it was just later years where the trashy 7 fanboys became more vocal..
