See AllUpcoming Role-Playing Games People Are Excited For
Witcher 4 is disappointing and will be a pass for me. As a middle aged man, I'm not a huge fan of playing female protagonists in my RPGs. I tend to self-insert myself onto the character I'm roleplaying in my games. It's just how I'm wired. I can only imagine the majority of gamers invested in the Witcher series are men.
Regardless the attempt of our times to homogenize the sexes, men and women are different. I can't relate to female protagonists as I do male protagonists. Also, with regards romance traditionally inserted into the Witcher games... Playing a female? No thanks. I don't get developers taking a strong protagonist like Geralt and shelfing him. At least give us a choice between the two maybe. Though I get how that would be too story intensive (essentially having to write two versions of the same story to fit both). Loved Witcher 3. Will pass on Witcher 4.
