I've heard that Scott Bakula was the first choice for Gibbs. Bakula had worked with the Belisarius' previously ( Quantum Leap). Bakula was under contract with the fledgling UPN, United Paramount Network playing Captain Jonathan Archer on Enterprise. Enterprise was cancelled in 2005 and years later Bakula portrayed Duane Pride for the New Orleans spin-off!
I love Jimmy Palmer ( Brian Dietzen ), His episode KEEP GOING inspired Me during a really rough time in My life! I've been a Mega NCIS fan since 03' ( and JAG before that) But Keep Going is and will always be My favorite episode!
My favorite subject with TNG! I understand Why, at first No Vulcans ( didn't want comparison with original series). As for the cast itself, there were excellent actors ( especially: Patrick Stewart) but no conflict between the characters! Riker turns down TWO different captain positions to stay first officer? His father was correct to criticize Him. It wasn't fair to officers like Commander Shelby who wanted to advance. Geordi, gets angry maybe four times in seven years? How does such a Mellow persona attain the rank of chief engineer? This series could have been so much more! There were excellent episodes and I never missed one, Season two and season seven were the best
