Aerith is my favorite to play as -- she's a spell-casting beast. Magic is extremely powerful in this game, and she's best-equipped to abuse it. Surprised she didn't rank much higher.
Sephiroth can be played as again much later in the game, although admittedly most players won't get to experience it.
