XB360 and PS3 require server capacity and allocations, Sony is spinning down the Entire PS3 network sometime in 2024 or 2025. So this is not just a EA Decision.
Are YOU going to pay for such a network to continue running?

While im not a fan of EA's decisions, Battlefield is my longest and most played title in all of the gaming I do.
Some of you are missing the point here, pertaining to the Battlefield Franchise, the closure of PS3 and XB360 services are not solely a EA Decision, that also resides on Sony and Microsoft. EA Does not provide the servers to them for online multiplayer, Sony and MS do. And if Sony and MS Request to reallocate server capacity and storage space, EA either has to provide their own servers, sign a contract with Sony and MS to use their API's to allow players to continue to play or shutdown. In this case EA also agreed to spin down PS3 and XB360 Services.
In addition to that, PS3 Services are being spun down globally by Sony with a rumored 2024 date, but its unknown, whether it will be 2024 or 2025. So EA is being forced to shutdown PS3 titles like BF3, BF4 and Hardline, because if Sony doesn't even have the PS3 services up and running, EA cannot connect to them.
To those of you shaming EA for this decision? Are you going to front the multi-ten to one hundred thousand dollar bill a year to run a global network to continue playing PS3 titles?
I didnt think so.;)
Pertaining to the other titles, like NHL and FIFA, a '23 title is a bit premature to spin down in 2024, but hey, its EA, either they are learning from Ubisoft or Ubisoft learned from EA.
