Demon Slayer didnt substitute an entire season with a movie, they basically substituted the final battle with a movie. I think people would be extremely disappointed to lose an entire season for a movie. That would shorten the content of the final season dramatically. It would be the equivalent of cutting the final season in half. It would be like going from 12 episodes to 5 1/2.
