Something NetEase could do, that works really well in Apex Legends Ranked, is that when you have a teammate leave, they instantly get the "time out" penalty but the remaining 2 team members are no longer able to lose ranked points, even if they die right after someone leaves. If the two remaining members make it far enough (top 5, top 2, or even win the game) they still earn the rank points. This creates no penalty for you and a buddy if your random third decides to ragequit (because they keep trying to 1v3 every team and dying) or if they have terrible connection. They could also notify the other team with 6 players still in the game, that they are now fighting a 5v6 and will be getting slightly reduced ranked points. Everybody wins, no one loses, except the guy that needs to upgrade his router or the person that would rather tank the team then take a loss.
