Everything has to be about modern audiences I see throughout this post. So wonky animations that we've seen through The croods, and other cartoons with similar style is sooo original? What about what actually drew the viewers? What led modern audiences to even like shrek is because of the original animation that passed down to fans to their future family and friends. What gave shrek its charm and something Disney couldn't even do was because of their original animation that even the characters were seeing memes of during the teaser for crying out loud. So there is no reason why they can't update their original animation with newer technology, but stick with their style that we've known since 1-4 movies.
