Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies' Tomb Controversy Feels Like Liberty Falls All Over Again
I think a lot of this is misconstruing criticism people have about the game.
People were not "wrong to judge" Liberty Falls and BO6 Zombies pre-launch. In fact, it was people who judged LF that actually got changes to happen. The changes weren't just "small things", either. Atmosphere wise Treyarch had slightly changed it (which it still doesn't look the greatest), but they also tweaked zombie spawns in order to make Liberty Falls harder. The success of Liberty Falls can 100% be attributed to the community backlash before the game launched. It's like saying "people who judged the HUD before launch were wrong because it's good now!". The HUD was only changed due to player feedback.
Using older games as a point of comparison is weird at least, bad faith at most. No one forgot there was only one new perk introduced in bo3 (which was Widows Wine, by the way, "elemental cherry" isn't a perk and the only thing close to it is electric cherry from bo2) and one new perk in CW, but bo6 has a lot more resources and dev time that could have been used to create new perks. Bo6 has at least an extra year of *zombies* dev time than bo3 and cw has had, and Treyarch likely has a much bigger team. Yes, the zombies team 10 years ago were only able to make one new perk. This shouldn't excuse it now. The same philosophy can be applied to the bo2 perks: yes, they were useless, but they were also created 12 years ago. Treyarch also proved that they can take useless perks and give them huge buffs (like they did with Tombstone combining into Whos Who), so them releasing a weaker version of Death Perception is disappointing.
