As a longtime customer and a 3 year in current employee of GameStop myself a little breakdown on the process basic pre-owned PS4 500gb GS sells for 159.99 and for pros currently 151.99... So the fact that they give up to $70 is pretty good mind you during "pro weeks" you can get an additional boost in trades... But in all honesty a lot of these people that bring in their consoles bring them in with cat hair roaches cracks in the system food stuck in the buttons some sort of sticky resin or chrysalis... And they want top dollar due to the fact that they say it still works... Unfortunately the business model is to buy pre-owned stuff and resell it we can't resell that if it looks/smells like that on top of that the type of warranty we give is amazing during purchasing a used or new console you can get the same warranty 1 or two years with a 0 deductible absolutely 0 you pay nothing... Meanwhile half of the people buy a $1,400 iPhone get the warranty on it and still get a pre-owned used phone once they make an insurance payment and still have to pay a deductible... Think about it people... GS sells entertainment they never claimed they saw anything that you absolutely need it's everything you want so don't pretend that they're gouging...once you take a car off the lot it's value reduces by half... The people that complain about this by $8 coffees have ridiculous priced phones but complain about a hobby store... Video Games are a Hobby that some people get paid for....
